The latest news is that Chengannur enters into the Guinness Book with a Christmas tree formed by people at Chengannur. Around 4030 persons were part of the 'tree', formed under the leadership of an organisation called Mission Chengannur.
Chengannur beats the record held by Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras. 2945 persons were part of it.
The programme was flagged off by Mission Chengannur chairperson and former MLA Shobhana George at 5 pm on Saturday. The participants stood still for five minutes.
After scrutiny, Guinness World Records representative Pravin Patel announced that Chengannur had set record.
People of six to 85 years of age took part in the event, wearing brown, green, red, and yellow T-shirts and caps.
